Contemporary Landscapes
Suz’s contemporary landscape work is inspired by her visits to the wild and rugged coastlines of North Wales and the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Many paintings are started as sketches in situ and plein air, as she works in challenging elements, connecting with nature and her surroundings.
The majority of her oils are painted without using a brush, preferring a palette knife or directly applying paint with her hands. She feels that her connection with the elements and nature can be represented more appropriately when feeling the surface directly and she has a greater affinity with the subject.
